Hope
It seems to me that the last few days have been a time of encouragement for our friends and colleagues in the United States. The recession of the economy has “shell-shocked” the Church, but now is not the time for us to back down. We must not withdraw, retreat, or give in to our circumstances. We must continue with the mission of carrying the Gospel to the lost at any cost. We must hit back twice as hard against the enemy.
The Apostle Paul testified to the church of Corinth concerning the church on Macedonia and said, “Though they have been going through much trouble and hard times, their wonderful joy and deep poverty have overflowed in rich generosity. For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. They begged us again and again for the gracious privilege of sharing in the gift for the Christians in Jerusalem. Best of all, they went beyond our highest hopes, for their action was to dedicate themselves to the Lord and to us for whatever directions God might give them.”
The key to coming out of the “much trouble and hard times” that Paul referred to is to continue giving out of wonderful, abundant joy. The Glory of the Lord will shine upon His Church as we continue to do His will. Keep the Faith and be encouraged!
